Jamal Shah

Jamal Shah (Pashto, Persian, Urdu: جمال شاہ) is an actor, a director, a painter, and a social worker. He was born in 1956 in Quetta,Balochistan, Pakistan.

Jamal Shah, a professor of Fine Arts in a University at Quetta, started his acting career from Quetta TV Station. He was married to Feryal Gohar Shah (and are now separated?).
Jamal appeared as the lead role (with Talat Hussain) in British TV's English play "Traffic." When not acting or educating, Jamal Shah arranges exhibitions of his paintings.

Jamal was also part of Madiha Gohar's team that has a mission to educate the poor masses in Pakistan through plays. So they do English stage plays (I wonder what's the English literacy rate in their poor audience).

In 1984 he established the Fine Arts Department at the University of Balochistan and headed the department for three years. in 1985 he formed the Artists Association of Balochistan and became the first Chairman of Artists Association of Pakistan.

Jamal Shah obtained a Master's in English literature from Balochistan University, Quetta, Balochistan in 1978 and in 1983 an NDA, National College of Arts, Lahore. He later obtained a Masters in Fine Arts from the Slade School of Art in London.

He is currently the director of HunerKada art academy in Islamabad which he founded in 1992 and Telenor Brand Ambassador doing Television Productions (Hunerkada Productions) his latest upcoming Drama is "Girdaab".

Being an actor, he performed in many TV serials as well as a renowned mini series titled Traffik produced by Britain's Channel 4 about illegal drugs and the role of Pakistan, Germany and Britain in its production, transportation and usage. Traffik was nominated for six BAFTAAwards, winning three. It also won an International Emmy Award for best drama

He has also starred in the film K2 from 1992, directed by Franc Roddam.

In 2005 Jamal Shah was responsible for the Pavilion in the Pakistan section of the World exposition in Aichi Japan.

In 2007 He became the Executive Director of Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

fter getting divorced from his 1st wife, Faryal Gohar, he is now married to Amna Shah, a former student and now teacher of Hunerkada College of Visual and Performing Arts, they are loving parents of 2 children,daughter Mina Shah and a son Syed Mayyan Mohummed Shah

Tauqeer Nasir’s style of acting can only be termed as top notch. The way he immerses himself in any role is a feat that perhaps only few can claim to master. Initially it was the ever-sulking ‘angry young man’ image that shot him to stardom. But, over the years, he has matured and has given fine performances in a variety of roles.

From an angry young man of Parwaz to a rustic village Robin Hood of the blockbuster Rahein, Tauqeer Nasir has been able to dish out hit serials every once in a while. In a nutshell, he has proved his mettle as an outstanding actor with a remarkable versatility.
• Born in Dera Ghazi Khan, he got his early schooling from D.G Khan and Multan. Later he joined the Mass Communication Department of the Punjab University and did his masters in 1981. But journalism was not his cup of tea at the time as the army uniform used to fascinate him. “The army khaki always attracted me. So joining the army was my dream. I did try to translate my dream into a reality but to no avail,” he states animatedly.
• Arif Waqar took the audition and luckily I was later selected for the main role of that serial. I was to perform the role of a son while the late Saleem Nasir played the role of my father.
• The rest, as they say, is history. He performed wonderfully in Panah, Aik Haqeeqat Aik Afsana, Samundar, Dehleez, Dard Aur Darman and of course, Parwaz. However, initially he considered acting as only a hobby. “At first it was only a hobby for me. And gradually it became a passion for me,” he describes.
The period from 1975-90 is in his view the “golden period” of PTV as everyone used to put in a great effort to produce something special. But he is not very disappointed about the present state of affairs of PTV, as he still believes that it is producing standard stuff.
He prefers softness in addition to melody in music. He has developed an ear for music icons such as Mehdi Hasan, Lata, Noor Jehan, Ghulam Ali, Nusrat Fateh Ali, and also Fareeda Khanum. As for pop music, he has little praise for it.

Story:A love story, the play is based on three families: Firstly we have Mr and Mrs Hayat (Shehryar Zaidi & Badar Khalil) who have two sons, Sharjeel (Adnan Siddiqui) and Sameer (Ali Kazmi). Mrs Hayat also has an unmarried sister Rafiya (Naila Ali). Mrs. Hayat is a very dominating and tyrant woman and no one in their house can do or say anything against her. Then we have a widow living in Islamabad who has two daughters Amna (Vaneeza Ahmed) and Imaney (Nadia Hussain). Amna is engaged to be married to Sharjeel and the whole family comes to Karachi for the wedding. At the mayun, they discover that Amna’s mother-in-law is not as sweet and mild tempered as they were told. However they are helpless and Amna gets married to Sharjeel. Amna is a docile girl and quietly bears all her mother in law’s taunts and puts up a happy face for her family. There is something very special about this Novel and the Drama, it makes for a decent watch mainly because of Rubina's worthy direction and some wonderful acting by the leads involved.

Story:The play is based on Virginia Andrews novel "Flowers in the Attic", not that any credit is given to the original writer. Aini (Shagufta Aijaz) is the favourite daughter of a Nawab (Khayyam Sarhadi). She has a step mother (Zeenat Yasmin) and a step brother Zahid (Yasir Nawaz).While the brother adores his sister and thinks the world of her, his mother is scheming to get hold of Aini's property and for this, she plans to get Aini married off to her nephew Zaheer (Jamal Shah). Well Aini has other plans and she secretly gets married to the man she loves, Dr. Murad (Ali Afzal) and so the nawab disowns her and Aini leaves. Eight years pass by and Aini has three kids by now, Uneeb, Rania and Sania and is living happily till one day her husband passes away in a car accident. Alone and helpless, Aini turns to her father for shelter, but the letter reaches the step mother and she decides to play the game her way. Aini returns home only to find out that she has to keep her kids away hidden in the annexxe, as her father is not well and both he and Zahid hate Murad and will never accpet his kids. Lies after lies are fed to Aini by the stepmom and she reluctantly agrees to do as her mother says,thinking that the mother is doing all that to help.Zaheer returns and Aini is coaxed into getting married to him. Things take an interesting turn when Sania dies and the other two kids run away. Zaheer finds out at this stage about the children so start hunting for the kids. Step mother is exposed and all her lies are flung in her face. What happens next remains to be seen.......
